Park and Recreation Department to Move to the Public Library Building on August 6

The Greendale Park & Recreation Department will move Monday, August 6 to the Greendale Public Library building located at 5647 Broad St., but will be working out of temporary offices there until construction of the new Community Learning Center is completed in January 2013. Construction of the new space is scheduled to begin in September. The Community Learning Center will include the Public Library, the Greendale Health Department and the Greendale Park & Recreation Department.

“This collaboration will enhance services to residents, extend the hours the library is open, and save both the Village and School District funds in coming years,” says Erin Green, Director of Business Services and Interim Superintendent.

Residents should keep in mind that the Park & Recreation staff is working hard to continue uninterrupted service during the transition.

“We ask for patience if there’s a bit of inconvenience until we’re finally settled in the Community Learning Center early next year,” says Jackie Schweitzer, Director of the Park and Recreation Department.

The Department’s hours will remain the same (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Monday through Friday and their lobby is open for counter service until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. There are no plans to change that at this time.

The Park and Recreation phone number (414-423-2790) and fax number (414-423-2727) will remain the same after the move on August 6. The Park and Recreation is moving from temporary offices in the Highland View Library. The department moved there a few weeks ago when construction began to convert its former space in the District Office into additional classrooms for Highland View.
